Would A Photo Diary Make You Thinner?

Many people think it's a good idea to keep a diary, when you want to lose weight. Some say it's to make the participants feel guilty, if they ate something "illegal", like a bag of M&M's. In my opionion there's a better goal: To make yourself realize how many calories you eat each day, and how they are departed between fat, carbohydrates and protein. But it takes disciplin to write everything down. And there might be a better solution.

A photo diary!

Take a picture of everything, you are about to eat.

fat foodWould you eat this, if you had to take a picture first?

Most people have a camera in their phone, which makes it easy to snap a photo, nomatter where you are, at home, in a restaurant, or on the road.

If you know that everything you eat will be saved and documented with photos, you are less likely to eat those donuts, you saw in the baker's window.

Would a photo diary work for you?

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison says Yes.

They asked 43 persons on a diet to keep a diary for one week of what they ate, either written or in photos. When questioned afterwards, the persons who took pictures told that it improved the quality of their diet.
